Are valknut tattoos racist12/29/2023 While the shape of the "Valknut" shows up historically, that name does not. We need to take things away from extremists and not let them abuse and ruin even more!Ī bit of a side note tho. Just being interested in the topic of norse culture and mythology sometimes gets you weird looks - and in my personal opinion we should not back down because of it. There will be people who might think you are right wing if they see that tattoo but if you arent then explaining that to them should be a good solution, especially since it helps to take away Valknut and similar stuff from right wing idiots who only abuse it. The Valknut however is also used by a lot of people who arent part of such extreme groups and its not as permanantly tainted as other symbols have become. It gets constantly abused by those people. Sadly you are not wrong: It is used by right wing and extremist groups, but that is true for a lot of norse culture. The "Valknut" itself is a historical symbol that does appear in viking age finds, so it IS a historic symbol of old norse people.
